Authority and Function

1. Propose the cabinet to formulate policy on promotion and strengthening of farmers and farmer organizations in line with the philosophy of sufficiency economy, production, processing, marketing, and protection of agricultural land.
2. Propose the cabinet to formulate policy and guideline on promotion and development of integrated farming, agro-forestry system, natural agriculture system, mixed farming system, organic agriculture system, and other agriculture types.
3. Give advice and proposition to the cabinet to solve farmer problems, agricultural development and conservation and utilization of natural resources and environment.
4. Propose the master plan on agricultural development to the cabinet.
5. Propose the cabinet to formulate guideline on promotion and support of research and development of knowledge on local plant and animal genetic, agricultural products and agricultural processing products.
6. Propose the cabinet to set up measures for ensuring agricultural price and product risk, including farmer welfares.
7. Strengthen collaboration and coordination with the government sector and the private within the country and abroad and the international organizations for agricultural development.
8. Develop and strengthen farmers and farmer organizations.
9. Provide recommendation on policy, laws or related agreements that have impact on farmers.
10. Give advice and recommendation to farmers, farmer organizations and that proposed by the provincial farmer councils.
11. Appoint committee, sub-committee, working group, or adviser as necessary.
12. Perform other tasks in accordance with what are specified in the laws to be the role and responsibility of the National Farmer Council, or as assigned by the cabinet.
